Teach Your Children Well
The Toolbox Series for Literacy consists of 120 reading lessons which present to the student the 1000 most common words in the English language within the 120 lessons. This 1000 common word base constitutes almost 90% of all of the words that we read on a daily basis. Providing such a word base allows a student to quickly become literate.
The series is phonetically based. It is also designed so that no sound or sound combination is ever presented in a word until that sound or sound combination has been taught to the student in isolation. No word can be introduced into a story until it has been taught as part of a word list. The student is also taught specific strategies for both phonetically regular and phonetically irregular words. As a result, the student always has a successful method to use in decoding words and never has to resort to guessing.

At our learning centres, for the past 30 years, we have used this method to teach thousands of youth and adults to become competent readers. Typically these students learn at a rate that is approximately three times faster than students are generally taught to read.
Like The Teach Your Children to Read Well series, anyone who is a competent reader can become an effective teacher or tutor of youth and adults. To assist them, we also offer backup support through our Teacher/Tutor membership program. Instructional CDs, teleseminars, podcasts, question and answer sessions and individual coaching are all available as part of the membership package to make sure that tutors and teachers are consistently successful in using the program.
